Road Crew win 3 duals at Roseau

The Pequot Lakes/Pine River-Backus Road Crew wrestling team surpassed its goal for victories this season and marked the seventh consecutive year with at least 15 wins when they earned three victories at the Roseau Quadrangular on Friday, Feb. 2.

"It was great to reach our goal for dual wins, and I'm pleased with how our kids have continued to work and improve," said Road Crew coach Travis Hoffarth. "Considering that we don't have a lot of depth in our upper weights at this point in our program, we have been fortunate to stay healthy enough to continue to be competitive."

The Road Crew improved its dual meet record to 17-12 overall after defeating Roseau 70-11, Fergus Falls 60-12 and Melrose 63-12 at the quadrangular.

"We had a great road trip up to Roseau," Hoffarth said. "We knew that the three of the teams we would be facing have had some injuries as of late, and would have a few holes in their lineups. At the same time, we had to go out and wrestle the kids they put on the mat, and we did that."

Peter Koering won three matches for the Road Crew to improve his individual record to 34-5 overall on the season. Also going 3-0 for the Road Crew were Riley Wilson, Evan Koering, Addisuone Harrington, Jake Poehler and Josh Pettit.

The Road Crew, who hosted Sebeka on Tuesday, Feb. 6, are scheduled to compete at the Section 8AA team tournament on Saturday, Feb. 17, at Thief River Falls.
